N.J. man had tens of thousands of images of child sex abuse on his device, cops say

A Bergen County man was arrested Monday after an investigation revealed one of his electronic devices contained more than 31,000 images of child sexual abuse, authorities said.
Benjamin P. Ritter, 23, of Washington Township, first came to the attention of the county cyber crimes detectives on Sept. 13, during an ongoing child pornography investigation, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.
A court-authorized search of Ritter’s electronic device revealed Ritter had “viewed, saved, downloaded, and/or possessed 31,110 items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children,” Musella said in a statement.
Ritter was arrested in Paramus on Monday and charged with second-degree possession of child pornography. He was held at the Bergen County Jail ahead of a court hearing.
Attorney information for Ritter was not immediately available on Tuesday.
