Vintage Victorian Christmas card or trade card.
This is a lovely antique lithograph card.
The front shows a mischievous angel tear back paper to reveal a peaceful scene of a grist mill with a waterwheel and a boat.
Front message: May Merry and hope their pleasures bring
to Thee when the Christmas joy bells ring.
Back message: Golden wing dawn aside hath torn the shadow of dusky night,
The joy bells ring, may Christmas bring sweet scenes of a future bright.
Of gentle Spring when birds shall sing and darkness give place to light,
Thus hopes are born in life's young morn to shorten old age's night.
This measures 4 3/4" X 2 3/4". It has never been signed. Nice!!
