    Description

Miss Patterson was married in Baltimore on Christmas Eve 1803, to young Jerome Bonaparte by Archbishop John Carroll. Thus she became sister in law to Napoleon, by whose order 2 years later the union was set aside. The relationship was later recognized by Napoleon III. She was the grandmother of Charles J. Bonaparte, (Secretary of the Navy in the Cabinet of Theodore Roosevelt) whose widow presented the Patterson and Bonaparte collection to the MD Historical Society. The card is in good condition, some dings, aging on the back, with wear on the corners and sides.
